The large bell was fabricated in repoussé bronze while the smaller features were cast with authentic medieval methods. A trail of six satellite features, reflecting Columbanus' voyage and foundations, culminates in a 16ft high landmark feature at Bangor Abbey. The landmark feature celebrates the achievements of Columbanus and marks the absence of any archaeological evidence of this important 6th century monastery. Adorned by wave patterns, it is the inspiration for seven public sculptures for Bangor that explore Columbanus' adventurous voyage that spread Early Christian spirituality all over Europe. 5ft high granite blocs contain six bells that mark the foundations of Columbanus, leading to a 12ft high repoussé bronze bell on a 4ft granite base. Audire Fluctus wearers can therefore set out on a journey to explore the spectrum of technological perception. The 9th century Bangor Bell is tour-de-force of early medieval metalwork. The wearer becomes an explorer who can go beyond the imaginary boundaries of how we perceive technology. This allows the wearer to explore the hidden world of electromagnetic radiation and become its observer. The middle layer is designed to detect the waves and translate them into sound. Wearers can listen to the same electromagnetic radiation from which they can hide. The concept is in line with the name, Audire Fluctus, which means ‘listening to waves’. These data streams are represented by Audire Fluctus. Electromagnetic radiation is also a part of the spectrum used for data transfer, phone calls or radio. The concept focuses on advanced technologies that use electricity to operate. As a result of this shielding it becomes an invisibility cloak from technology. This layer reduces the electromagnetic radiation coming onto or from the wearer. The top layer, of the multilayer design, is made of a metallized fabric that makes the wearer immune from technology. The clothing allows wearers to distance themselves from technological media and develop a new perspective on it. This concept is materialized in the form of clothing. The electromagnetic spectrum is revealed in individual works and as a connecting theme throughout the exhibition.Īudire Fluctus explores the relationship between technology, humans and their surroundings. The exhibition explores and expands on this phenomenon further with kinetic objects, video stories and drawings drawn by a robotic arm. They experience storms as a symphony of electromagnetic bursts of thunder. ![]() For AUDIRE FLUCTUS exhibition visitors, the city becomes an observable energy cluster. The wearers of AUDIRE Fluctus are transformed into technological models who reveal an invisible part of our reality. The main concept behind the exhibition is to reveal invisible electromagnetic waves. It was first presented in spring 2019 at the Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion Week. The ‘Echoes of Audire Fluctus’ exhibition is inspired by the concept of Audire Fluctus clothing.
